The flying sand of Sotavento Beach is impossible to get use to. Actually the more days you spend here the more frustrated you get with it being everywhere; in your mast, rolled up in your sail, in the car, in your apartment, on your bed, in your ears and grinding in your teeth. The strong wind and choppy water is the other way around. You struggle with it the first couple days, but with time you figure it out and start landing your moves.
So after being here for 10 days I love the spot and gave up on keeping the sand out.

Everybody from the above list is totally ripping, so I’m not even going to try and predict who’s going to win or who’s going to be in the top 10.
The forecast for the event looks strong. I’m guessing we’ll be riding 4.5m, 4.2m and 4.0m sails mostly. Looks like there is a chance of some fun ramps at low tide during the first few contest days too!
My plan is to train a couple more days, take 2 days of rest before the event, move into the hotel, get all the gear ready, and then the green flag goes up!
